Rollin

You know when you work a lot of hours and you think you can do no more, then you get a second wind and become incredibly efficient and motivated? Well, I'm there right now ... it has been a long week, and we have a lot going on in our lives (working in consulting, wife in grad school, selling our home, packing, moving, changing addresses, setting up new services, parents in town this weekend, attending black tie events requiring tuxedo purchase - which is stupid, incredibly busy work week requiring 14 hour days all week, etc.)

Why can't my sperm get in this mode? They don't do anything! They just sit there all day waiting for their release and then, they swim sideways / backwards / slowly / into each other / in circles ...

Their job is very simple. I don't understand why out of 300 million, not a single one can find the time to do his job.

Joe,

I've been sitting reading through your posts from the beginning up to now for the past hour to 90 minutes.

I could have commented on a dozen posts up to now but I'll just stick one here to save us both the torture.

I think you are doing a fantastic job of recording everything thats happening to you guys, it's clear, concise and I really appreciate the black humour you seem to have about it.

I recognise SO many of the points you raise, from the lousy SA, to indifferent medical personnel, to frustration.

We seem to be on a similar timeline to you guys, married Summer 05, trying unsucessfully for 14 cycles now.

Tomorrow we go back to our specialist to see what our possibilities are.

The so called elusive male point of view is hard to find on this topic, so I look forward to following you further.

I'm going to stick you on my blog roll also if that's ok with you. This is the best male TTC/infertility blog I've found.

Apologies for the novel of a comment, & all the best of luck.

I don't know if you saw my comment about Dr. S and IVF Michigan under your January column (I just posted since I am new to your site), but we have male IF issues and we not comfortable with Dr. S (never did treatment there and still got contacted about the study) so we switched to U of M and just started treatment there....they are #1 in Michigan. Good luck and one day when you are a father it will all be worth it :)

@Xbox4NappyRash: Thanks for the comments. I'll tune in to your blog immediately - my boss is Dutch, so will enjoy following your progress. Best of luck.

@anonymous: What is your plan? Are you moving right into IVF, or will you follow a more traditional route? I'd be interested to hear about your experience at U of M ... do you have a blog of your own? If not, might want to think about starting one ... for what it's worth, I would read it!

Im just a random blogstalker of sorts... I enjoy reading your blog and my heart really goes out to you. I work at the said hospital and have some knowledge about their practices here at the U. Best of luck to you, you're in my thoughts.
